Dear Chaplain,
Please forward this Memorial Day Letter to your Pastor and ask him to prayerfully consider a special offering for the AGC this Memorial Day.
On Monday, 30 May 2022 (Memorial Day) our Nation will remember and honor our Armed Forces Veterans who, in the words of President Abraham Lincoln, “gave their last full measure of devotion” to their Country.
Over twenty-two million Veterans are alive today in the United States. Some are still faithfully serving our Country guarding our freedoms on Active Duty and in the Reserves. Others have been Medically Retired due to the serious combat wounds they received fighting our Nation’s wars. Still others are now just serving as citizens enjoying the blessings of Liberty that their Military Service helped protect.
Recognizing that Liberty is a precious gift and blessing from God, and that it is never free, it is fitting that we remember and honor those who have made the supreme sacrifice serving us.
Alongside these Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and Coast Guardians were Military Chaplains who cared for their souls, called men of God who comforted them in their wounds, and who honored them in their death. Some Chaplains died with those they were serving. Army Captain Dale Goetz was the last Chaplain to be Killed in Action (KIA). He died in an MRAP with his soldiers while en route to provide Gospel Ministry at a Forward Operating Base (FOB) near Kandahar, Afghanistan.
Russia’s invasion of the Ukraine in February has impacted several of our Special Forces Chaplains who are even now deployed with their Troops to Eastern Europe. Please pray for their Gospel Ministry in the potential crucible of war.
Just recently, one of our Navy Chaplains officiated the Wedding of a Navy Pilot to a fellow female Christian Navy Pilot who had spurned his prior advances because he was not a Christian. Dumbfounded, he came to our Chaplain and explained what had happened. Over the course of the seven-month deployment, our Navy Chaplain led him to Christ, discipled him, and then baptized him after their return to Norfolk, VA. What a joy it was for him to officiate their wedding.
Another Chaplain who recently concluded a very successful Korean Tour of Duty (many trusted Christ), reported to Fort Knox, where he very creatively began taking families to the Ark and Creation Museum in Kentucky. He prepares them (preaches to them) as they drive to the Ark and on the way back to Fort Knox. So many have signed up after his first successful outing that he has had to arrange for two buses on future trips. What a tremendous opportunity to plant Biblical Truth to those being bombarded by modernistic wokeness.
Our men and women in uniform need faithful Chaplains who will proclaim the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and counsel them with Biblical truth. Recognizing the radical changes in our culture and military, the need is even greater now. The Associated Gospel Churches currently endorses about 100 men who have faithfully embraced this sacred mission. Our Veterans need more Chaplains like these men.
As you remember and honor those who have served in the Military this year on Memorial Day, I humbly ask you to sincerely consider how you might best honor their service and sacrifice. One way would be to be involved in sending more Bible-believing, Christ-proclaiming Chaplains to serve alongside them.
Our AGC Mission is:
Rooted in the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40)
and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), and
Recognized by the Federal Government
as an official Ecclesiastical Endorsing Agency,
The Associated Gospel Churches (The AGC) exists
to represent historic and classic fundamental churches,
for the purpose of recruiting, endorsing, and supporting
ordained men to serve as Chaplains – Pastors in Uniform –
in restricted access institutions.
The AGC enables local church missional access into restricted institutions. Our Chaplains are sent from local independent churches. We do not endorse men who are not active members of their local church, and our Chaplains remain accountable for their Gospel Ministry to their sending Local Church through the AGC.
While our AGC Chaplains are missionaries paid by the United States Government, the AGC Home Office relies upon the beneficent gifts of those who recognize the importance of reaching this great Military Mission Field, and the importance of protecting the opportunities of those Chaplains currently laboring in this fruitful vineyard.
Again, this year I humbly ask, would you prayerfully consider a special offering for the AGC this Memorial Day to advance AGC’s Mission of reaching our Veterans?
Our Chaplains earnestly believe that those who hazard their lives as an occupation to safeguard the freedoms we enjoy today in this Country – those men and women are worthy of the unedited, untainted, and unabridged Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is our high honor to serve Christ in delivering that Gospel Message to them! Help us send more Chaplains to reach them!
Thank You,
Steven D Brown
